The City of Grand Terrace, California, located in the Southern Inland Empire, recently named as one of "America's Top 100 Great American Towns" by Money Magazine, has been in working discussions on the graffiti problem on the Union Pacific Taylor Street trestle over the I-215 freeway since April 20, 2007.  This trestle is located at the entrance to our city and is seen by over 150,000 commuters daily.

To date- no visible action has been taken by Union Pacific to clean up the graffiti despite several requests from the City and the local press. The City of Grand Terrace is asking our residents and community supporters to send email to Union Pacific  requesting:

  • A commitment from Union Pacific to take ownership of the graffiti problem on their property - BNSF sets an example of this on a nearby trestle (see picture to the right)
  • Dedicate work crews to a continuous program of cleaning off graffiti on their trestles
  • Set a date of action
